Sam Joseph’s listing at 10 Lynwood Way, the former home of the son of Thomas Edison and former Governor of New Jersey, “Landmore”, was featured on NJ.com and on the front page of the Home Section of the Star Ledger.
Located in prestigious Llewellyn Park, it was built in 1930 by Delano and Aldrich for Charles Edison, who was the president of his father’s corporation, which he ran until it was sold in 1959. 10 years later Charles was a one term New Jersey governor. It is now on the market for $5.9 million.
Charles arranged to have transferred to his new mansion the contents of his father’s private office and it has been sold to subsequent owners. The contents of this museum is not included in the sale of the home and is negotiated separately.
“And nobody can see it,” Sam Joseph says, “but the owner of this house.”
The room is equipped with an original Thomas Edison electrical system. The office ‘museum’ houses such items as Edison’s desk, dictaphone, typewriter, papers, photographs, a a factory time clock and even his cup of cigars. The floorboards were taken from Thomas’s office and installed with the original copper nails. Copper would not interfere with his experiments he conducted.
This beautiful historically significant home with an elevator has 7 bedrooms, 5.3 baths and is more than 10,000 square feet. It includes 9 fireplaces, a 2,000+ bottle wine cellar, grand library, conservatory, and flower-cutting room.
