Highlights of this Home

A unique room in the home is the 40-foot Grand Dining Room. Upon his return from the Titanic, Blank wanted to mimic the opulence of the Titanic dining hall and extended his own to the southern wing of the home. “The most spectacular room in the house is the 40-foot dining room with Sheffield silver metalwork, tri-marble fireplace, and carved egg and dart moulding in a sequential pattern of 6 roses, depicting the 6 wives of Henry VIII,” noted Sam. “That’s 3 Catherine’s, 2 Anne’s and a Jane.”

The heart of the home is the gourmet kitchen, which boasts bespoke cabinetry, hand honed granite countertops, Viking appliances, and wine and beverage chillers. The central staircase, leading to the second and third floors of the home, feature custom spindles of which each third spindle is a different design. Included in the eight bedrooms are three master suites on the second floor, full of history and extraordinary custom work throughout. The second floor doors have the original crystal doorknobs. With a billiard room, two bedrooms, laundry room, home gym, and executive home office, the third floor is practically a home in itself.

The current owners, Sean and Susan Cullinan, favorite room in the home are the third floor ballroom/ billiard room with its cathedral ceilings, secret panels, and 16th century fireplace.

The Cullinan’s are also generously leaving the new owners memorabilia from the original Blank family. “We are happy to leave the new owners the large photos of the original family in the billiard room as well as the vintage steamer trunks from when the Blank family went on later cruises,”

“The home is truly a masterpiece and something to be seen in-person,” said Jane Konzelmann, manager of BHHS New Jersey Properties’ Montclair office. “The incredible detail and modern updates were done so tastefully and keep with the history of the home.”

In addition to the main home, there is also a carriage house consisting of five rooms, two of which are bedrooms, along with a living room, dining room, kitchen, and bath. It even has its own patio, making it perfect for an in-law, au pair, or rental. Located less than 19 miles from Midtown Manhattan and less than ½ mile to the Glen Ridge Midtown-direct train station, this home is ideal for commuters.

Although of historic significance, this home is not registered property on the National or the State historic registry and as such, would not be subject to the restrictions imposed on such homes.
